Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni were influential Italian designers and architects who played a key role in shaping postwar industrial design. Working together primarily in Milan during the 1950s and 1960s, the brothers became known for their inventive approach, combining technical precision, humor, and a deep curiosity for everyday objects. Their work often reinterpreted ordinary materials and industrial components in unexpected ways, creating designs that were both functional and playful. Collaborating with major Italian companies such as Flos and Zanotta, they produced some of the most iconic objects of modern design, including the Arco lamp and the Snoopy lamp. After Pier Giacomo’s early death in 1968, Achille continued the studio’s work and remained one of the most respected figures in Italian design. Today, their creations are widely exhibited in museums around the world and are considered landmarks of twentieth-century design.
