Arne Jacobsen

Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) was a Danish architect and designer celebrated as one of the leading figures of modernism. Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he became known for his holistic approach, designing buildings, interiors, and furniture as unified compositions. His architectural work includes the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, where he created everything from the structure to the cutlery. As a furniture designer, he produced several 20th-century icons, including the Ant Chair (1952), the Series 7 Chair (1955), and the Egg and Swan chairs (1958). Jacobsen’s style combined functionalism with graceful organic forms, establishing a timeless aesthetic that continues to influence contemporary design worldwide.
