Jasper Morrison

Jasper Morrison (British, born 1959) is an industrial designer known for his restrained, quietly elegant approach to everyday objects. Born in London, he studied design at Kingston Polytechnic before continuing at the Royal College of Art and later at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. After graduating, he established his design studio in London in 1986 and quickly gained recognition for a philosophy he describes as “super normal,” focusing on objects that are simple, useful, and enduring rather than expressive or decorative. Throughout his career, Morrison has collaborated with major international companies including Vitra, Cappellini, Flos, Alessi, and Muji, designing furniture, lighting, tableware, and household objects that emphasize clarity of form and careful proportion. His work reflects a deep interest in anonymous industrial design and the beauty of ordinary things, positioning him as a key figure in contemporary minimalism. Morrison has also curated exhibitions and published books exploring the idea of normality in design. His work is held in the collections of major museums worldwide.
