George Nelson
George Nelson was an American architect, writer, and industrial designer who played a central role in shaping American modernism during the mid-20th century. In 1945 he became the design director of Herman Miller, where he collaborated with designers such as Charles Eames and Isamu Noguchi while developing a new vision for modern furniture. Nelson designed a wide range of influential pieces, including the Marshmallow Sofa, the Nelson Bench, and the famous Ball Clock. Through his furniture, writings, and exhibitions, he helped define the principles of modern design, emphasizing clarity, practicality, and the idea that good design should improve everyday living.
