About this Product
The Penguin Rocking Chair leans towards the American modernists from the 1950s and 1960s. So beautiful that it can be displayed as a work of art in any home, it is open in its construction with a curved back of oak or walnut veneer and has a seat upholstered in fabric or leather against the stringent steel frame. Contrasting and playful, while being well-proportioned and fully formed, the chair, designed by furniture designer Ib Kofod-Larsen in 1953, is a piece of Danish cultural heritage and design history – and maybe more modern than ever before with its beautiful silhouette and sculptural, organic lines and curves.

About the Designer
Ib Kofod-Larsen was a Danish architect and furniture designer. He began his design career after gaining an architecture degree from the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. In 1948, he opened his own design studio in Copenhagen and became an important representative of Danish Modernism, together with Kaare Klint, Hans J. Wegner, Børge Mogensen and Finn Juhl. He had prominent international success in the 1950s, where his Scandinavian work was manufactured globally in Europe and beyond including Japan and the US. Ib Kofod-Larsen was one of the most successful and best-selling designers in Europe and US. Today one his most well-known designs is the Knitting Chair, which was first produced as a limited edition, launching at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Furniture Exhibition. It is now manufactured by Menu, as part of their "Modernism Reimagined” collection.
