About this Product

Preserving the iconic half-sphere shade and the peripheral light created by its slit, we expand the Fontana family with its floor version—more than fifty years after its creation. Fontana Alta features a discreet circular base that supports the structure and shade, along with a discreet dimmer located on top. Its versatility makes it perfect for accompanying the calm of home, the frenzy of work, or a deep conversation in a restaurant.

About the Designer

André Ricard (1929–2024) was a pivotal figure in Spanish industrial design, known for championing objects that quietly improve everyday life through clarity, usefulness, and human scale. Working across lighting, household goods, packaging, and furniture, he believed design should be discreet rather than demonstrative, solving real problems with elegance instead of spectacle. Closely linked to the rise of modern design culture in postwar Spain, Ricard played a key role in connecting Spanish industry with international design thinking, notably through his involvement with ADI-FAD and the promotion of good design as a cultural value. His creations, many of which became long-lasting commercial successes, reflect a philosophy rooted in functionality, ethical responsibility, and respect for the user, making André Ricard a lasting reference in European design history.
