Marcel Breuer
Marcel Breuer (born 21 May 1902, died 1 July 1981) was a Hungarian-born architect and designer who helped script the visual grammar of modernism in the 20th century. Formed at the Bauhaus, where he later became one of its youngest masters, Breuer treated industrial materials like creative instruments, most famously bending tubular steel into furniture that seemed to sketch itself in the air, light yet structurally precise. His work balanced discipline and warmth, geometry and comfort, and his later architectural projects carried that same sculptural intensity, using concrete and bold forms to create buildings that feel at once monumental and carefully composed. His legacy endures in a vision of design that is rational, inventive, and stripped to its essential elegance.
